The Royal Green Jackets was formed in 1966. It was born from, amongst others, the merger of the Green Jackets and the Rifle Brigade, bringing together centuries of valour and service.

Embodying the motto "Celer et Audax" (Swift and Bold), the Royal Green Jackets exemplified agility, courage and innovation. From the battlefields of the Monmouth Rebellion to the crucibles of the Napoleonic Wars as well as both World Wars, the Royal Green Jackets continue a remarkable legacy of tenacity and adaptability.

Renowned for their marksmanship, reconnaissance skills, and adept use of cutting-edge technology, the Royal Green Jackets were highly versatile and effective in battle.

On 1st February 2007 along with other infantry regiments in a major restructuring of the British Army, they were amalgamated to form the Rifles Regiment and, more particularly, the 1st Battalion Royal Green Jackets formed the 2nd Battalion. Within the Rifles Regiment, their dedication to service and excellence remains unwavering and a stalwart symbol of strength, resilience and innovation within the British Army.
